I’m a Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and Texas Army National Guard. I've walked the cell blocks and rec yards of some of the hardest prisons in Texas. Spent two decades serving in law enforcement from the Texas State Prison System, to a Sheriff's Deputy, and finally retired as a Supervisor in the Texas Highway Patrol. I've spent my life in the service of others. I’ve seen good, bad, and the kind of darkness most people never experience. I’ve buried friends. I’ve survived betrayal. I’ve fought battles—internally and externally—that could’ve ended me.

And through everything, one truth stayed the same:
